ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

The 2010 Annual Christmas Party was held on Saturday, December 11, 2010. A huge thank you to Pam and Jay Bullie for hosting us at the gorgeous home in Freedom, PA. We had an enormous spread of hors d'uorves, desserts, and beverages thanks to our members in attendance. As suggested by Pam, we incorporated karaoke into the holiday festivities, and the NHEW men stole the show with their wonderful rendition of "Tie a Yellow Ribbon!" The annual gift exchange game was spontaneous and fun with the creativity of gifts reaching a new high! To end the evening with a bang, we sang the 12 days of Christmas with a solo twist by each member. A great time was had by all and I thank all the members who were in attendance that helped make it a success!

A TURKEY ON EVERY TABLE

November’s Service Project was truly a success. NHEW donated approximately 75 items to North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO). We exceeded our goal and contributed three completed dinner bags to the “Turkey on Every Table” Food Drive. In addition, we gave three bags of groceries and four gift certificates.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

North Park- The International Day of Peace is sponsored by The Pittsburgh North People for Peace and the North Hills Anti-Racism Coalition in collaboration with NHEW and other northern
area organizations was held Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Point Grove in North Park.

With 192 countries’ flags from countries, all of the planet. Geil Wesley Williams did a great job organizing our organization to host the Welcome table. The rain held off until the very end where NHEW members rushed to protect the flags. This year, NHEW will host the Welcome Table (including nametags, door prize tickets, and donation jar).  side dish or dessert, and lawn chairs for your personal use.

STRENGTHENING OUR SISTERHOOD

Wexford, PA- North Hills Ebony Women, Inc. held our annual Membership Tea at the lovely home of Diane Koram on Sunday, September 12, 2010. This year’s theme was “Strengthening Our Sisterhood.”

The day was filled with getting acquaint activities to encourage our membership to become closer as a sisterhood. We had a great conversation about our hobbies, influential people in their lives, proudest moments, and places traveled over the years. In addition, we discussed our passions and related them to the future for NHEW. The event concluded with the Membership and Social Committee Chairs presenting a lovely teapot set to our host, Diane Koram.

SHOP FOR A CAUSE!

Macys' “Shop For A Cause” was a success in providing OVER $1,000 for our scholarship! We are so fortunate that you all worked hard at selling those shopping passes, receiving donations, and selling directly to customers at the store during the shopping event!

Thank you all who worked toward our goal!! We needed everyone's effort and that's exactly what we got.

Special thanks to our members afar:  Ashley Bullie Koch & Jenyce Michelle Woodruff Smith. Membership, those along the way to membership, and Joy Maxberry Woodruff, who sold 43 passes, on our behalf!
