2009-2010 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

The North Hills Ebony Women, Inc. held their annual scholarship reception in the Art Gallery at LaRoche College on Sunday, June 27, 2010. Dina Clark, YWCA Director of Race and Gender Equity provided the keynote address while NHEW President  Joy Maxberry Woodruff added remarks. The scholarship committee co-chairs Fawn Robinson and Sharon Rollock presented the students with checks for $750 each. 

DaMarra Underwood- Awarded the North Hills Ebony Women, Inc. Scholarship, is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts High School and a resident of Pittsburgh, PA. DaMarra is a member of the National Honors Society, National Music Honor Society, and Metropolitan Baptist Church Youth Group. DaMarra will be attending Howard University in the fall and she is the daughter of Howard and Gloria Underwood.

Taylor Doaty- Awarded the Norma Ware Duncan Memorial Scholarship, is a graduate of Oakland Catholic High School and a resident of Wexford, PA. Taylor is a member of the National Honors Society, Mukwano Club, Film Club, Varsity Track Team, and Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science. Taylor will be attending Georgetown University in the fall and she is the daughter of Thomas and Nile Doaty.
