WELCOME!
The North Hills Ebony Women (NHEW Inc), is a unique support, service, and social organization, that recognizes African American identity, heritage, education, and unity. The group was officially founded in 1979, and was formerly known as, “The North Hills Ebony Women’s Club” under the YWCA in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.
We, the members of NHEW Inc., are thankful to our founders and past leaders whose courageous stance and unwavering commitment successfully guided them to fulfill our mission in the midst of many challenges. Their successes shine as a beacon of light and hope for us today.
The NHEW Inc., of today are determined to fulfill our mission, though we are faced with ever changing challenges. Our Scholarship Program is our primary mission. We award two scholarships every year. We search for college bound minority students, choosing one from the North Hills of Pittsburgh and one from the City of Pittsburgh. In 2015 our 35th year of service, we were able to award an unprecedented four scholarships through hard work and donations.
Our fund raisers and other activities serve to support our Scholarship Program. We continue to explore new ways and opportunities to support our mission, to engage our community, and to partner with other local organizations in some of their endeavors.
If you like being challenged, have an interest in helping to educate our children, have a willingness to support the community, and live in the North Hills please consider joining NHEW Inc. in our mission. If you would like to participate in our fund raisers or donate to our Scholarship Program fund please contact us at
